Psilocybin Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa - Exploring New Avenues for Treatment

This presentation, by Dr. Stephanie Knatz-Peck, will describe the impact of genetic factors on psychopharmacology and neurotransmitter synthesis specific to eating disorders patients. Participants will examine the effects of antidepressants before and during weight restoration, specifically exploring the formation of L-methylfolate and monoamine synthesis and metabolism and factors contributing to these processes, such as food variety and individual genetics. Further discussion will include how “being human” impacts the treatment response, including compliance and other genetic factors. Discussion will include therapeutic drug monitoring, relevant position papers, legislation and the pros and cons of current genetic testing available to provide insight into individual response.
